The winner of this Listed event for 3yo fillies only was a very clear cut one in the favourite Atishu that scored by seven lengths and clocked 1:36.86, which was the best mile time of the day by over one second. The filly drifted back to second last and then was wide across the top before coming up eighth and deepest turning for home then surged and quickly led at the 200m. The winners and where they came from on the home turn were twelfth (sixteen-off the inside and four lengths from the leader), fourth (seven-off the inside and two lengths from the leader), co-leader (four-off the inside), led (six-off the inside and a head in front), second (four-off the inside and a head in front), eighth (fourteen-off the inside and three lengths from the leader), fourth (two-off the inside and three lengths from the leader), sixth (eighteen-off the inside and a length from the leader). Atishu was winning her third race in eight starts and today she got the hattrick plus she gained her first win at Blacktype with the Listed romp. She was also ridden by the apprentice Kozzi Asano, who has won the last two outings on the filly. The filly has come good this year and has it all ahead for the rest of this season but more so as a 4yo mare. A distant second was Exquisite Pearl that was very brave as she moved up sixth wide between runners early then was wide in the open across the top and came up fourth turning for home. She reached third at the 200m and 100m before moving into second at the 50m and gained her first piece of Blacktype at her first attempt at it too. Third home was Lelawala, also a North Island trained filly like the two that beat her home today, and she raced third the inner then worked off and came up second turning for home before taking the lead at the 300m. She got windburn from the winner at the 200m and was third at the 50m getting beaten almost eight lengths but like the runner up gained her first piece of Blacktype at her first attempt too. Lelewala was also ridden by an apprentice in Darren Danis. The fourth finisher was Larpower, ridden by the apprentice Kin Kwo, and she raced ninth the outer early then was eleventh surrounded midrace and across the top to the home turn. She ran on gamely to be fourth at the 100m but was beaten over ten lengths. Next home was Showemhowitsdone that settled back tenth and wide and was held up turning for home but ran on and was just a nose behind the fourth finisher at the line. The rest got beaten home over eleven lengths and as far as over thirty-two lengths so were well spread out at the line. The winner Atishu at her first mile attempt absolutely obliterated her opposition and she could run 2000m now such is her rapid progress in the last quarter of the season.
