Hs Dyke Wanganui Guineas (LR)

Age: 3yo Type: OPEN

The rampant on pace and inside bias at play all day at Wanganui puts doubt of the true worth of this Listed race. This event was also not a true pressure contest at all with the winning time of 1:20.55 being over four lengths inferior to the Rating 75 held earlier in the day and also won by the leader. Tywa had won his maiden prior on a bog clockwise, also when leading, so may have got away with a blacktype win here being in such an averagely run race. The track bias alone casts doubt on the validity of the results as it was way too blatant and no true race pressure just makes things worse as a believable guide at this stage. The sire of the winner Thewayyouare also left the third finisher Acquisto, which for a never even placed before maiden was a game third beaten just over half a length. The runner up Platinum Witness, a maiden filly that ran here and not against just her own sex in the earlier Listed event, was within half a length of victory and went big. She would have won but for a tardy getaway and her closing strength screams miler but until they do it you still have to reserve judgment on this Australian bred filly. Acquisto, also a filly, ran a riper after being tightened at the start and having to improve the fence from the back. She unleashed hard once drawn into clear air centre track and should not be a maiden for very long on this effort. Hilarious Honour fought on okay the closing stages but had a soft fence trip to the home turn so had every chance in reality. Douro is a maiden with scope and he carried half a kilo overweight in this so his fifth beaten just over three lengths was sound. He was wide throughout but got cover across the top to the home turn. All Charm was the biggest effort in the race bar the runner up as deadest slaughtered after being back and deep then sent up three-wide onto the pace and was there to the home turn, He was third still at the 200m and weakened late but had too and to be beaten just over three lengths speaks volumes for this maiden if such an outing has not flattened him. Eletist was disappointing after disputing a far from pressure contest one-off to the home turn and may be just a wet tracker but deserves one more look to make a more informed comment. King’s Secret was not too bad and the rider when angling centre track the run home got kept in by a rival so had to switch back inwards but it never cost him a dividend bearing position. Tornado Alley is a next up wager if some gear adjustments are made or a senior rider gets atop as he ran excessively wide turning for home. The way he kept coming the closing stages suggested there is room to improve once over further distance. Scusa was disappointing whatever way you look at it. Bel Sorriso cannot give away ground to her rivals and expect to be competitive still plus she looks a wet tracker only at this stage too or needs eyewear added to concentrate more. Two Over One and Itsa Houdini both got tightened at the start and never got into the reckoning at any stage thereafter. Another dubious form worth Listed race as the track bias was blatant and the pressure in this race was not that of a real deal stakes event. The runner up filly Platinum Witness has scope and Douro plus especially All Charm ran brave races out of the males, so the still maiden trio should be followed this season.
