Ric O’Shea got a nice run in about seventh place, one off the rails. He switched out wide nearing the home turn and put in a strong challenge at the 200m, drawing clear shortly afterwards, then lasted to win well by a length at the post. Natuzzi was in front of only two in the field of 16 at the 600m point. He got though in the centre on straightening and switched out at the 300m, making up many lengths over the final stages, failing by a length to catch the winner. The mare Ziva got a good run in third place on the rails, getting into the clear passing the 300m, then battling on for an honest third after having every chance. El Chico raced outside the leader (Petty Lane) to the 400m, got to the lead at the 200m then fought well under his top weight (59kg) for fourth, beaten three lengths.*ANZ
