This Listed 3yo over 1400m saw an all the way win from the outside gate by the Riccarton visitor Emily Margaret and a clear cut margin at the line for the starting favourite. The winners and where they turned for home in race order were fourth (four-off the inside and three lengths from the leader), co-leader (one-off the inside), fourth (three-off the inside and a length and a half from the leader), second (the outer and a neck from the leader), eighth (on the inside and four lengths from the leader), co-leader (one-off the inside), led (on inside and two lengths clear), led (on inside and two lengths clear), led (three-off the inside and half a length in front) and seventh (seven-off the fence and two and a half lengths from the leader). Emily Margaret flew out and led by two lengths and she held that buffer to the home turn then increased it the final 200m to score by two and a half lengths in 1:24.24. It was her third win in eleven starts and her second success at Listed level. A senior rider atop the filly helped matters clearly as she did not run fast time but more kept the pace constant and applied pressure in that regard. Dreamtesta kept coming to get second having raced fourth mostly on settling and moved into third at the 200m then grabbed that runner up berth the final 20m. Naval Fleet the second favourite was tardy then booted through on the inside to be third the inner and reached second before the home turn. She was chasing in vain at the 200m and lost second at the 25m. Severine ran on well for a distant fourth after settling down seventh and looks a filly to follow. Tee Cee Coup raced fifth mostly and battled on but had every chance and was almost seven lengths from the winner at the line. Superstatic was sixth beaten almost ten lengths but ran on after getting well back and wide. Devil's Staircase was second chasing the winning leader and weakened from third turning for home. Frosted battled on from ninth the inner but was almost a dozen lengths from the winner. The rest got beaten twelve lengths and up to thirty-one lengths. This was not a very strong field at all and barely Listed level so no surprise that the first two home were Blacktype proven. There are more wins in store for the first three home for sure and the fourth finisher Severine in particular looks to have good scope.
