Early Market Movers At Warrnambool

3 minute read

Emerging chaser Phaze Action heads the betting for the $100,000 Brierly Steeplechase on the opening day of the huge Warrnambool Carnival on Tuesday.

The Matthew Hyland trained jumper made it two wins on end of the fences when he survived a mid race scare to beat a small but strong field at Sandown Hillside on April 18.

TAB Sportsbet opened Phaze Action $3.80 favourite just ahead of Fareer ($4) and Cats Fun ($4.20).

The Robert Smerdon-trained Fareer was just outstayed by Phaze Action in the April 18 race.

The locally-trained Cats Fun switches to the bigger fences after chasing home champion hurdle Some Are Bent at Sandown Hillside on April 18.

TAB Sportsbet also has betting open on Tuesday's City Of Warrnambool Handicap (1700m).

In another open event, Magnifique Soliel is $3.80 favourite from Stoneblack ($5.50), The Wingman ($6.50) and Constant Force ($7).

There has been some early support for Clangas Glory ($16 to $12) and Italian Machine ($10 to $8).

Early betting on Wednedsay's Warnambool meeting have seen $20,000 placed on Black And Bent @ $1.40 in the Galleywood Hurdle and good money for Wealth Princess ($8 into $4.60) to win the Wangoom Handicap.
