FLEMINGTON

Race 7: MORTON'S FORK (Craig Williams) - “He’s been set for one race this preparation - the Australian Guineas. It was a nice run last start where he got cluttered up. It is an advantage for him to draw out, he loves a bit of galloping room. He’s fit and right at the top of his game and there’s no reason he can’t be right in the finish.”

RANDWICK

Race 2: TREKKING (Zac Purton) - “My preference is to run Trekking in the Black Opal in Canberra on Sunday if we think it’s too wet at Randwick. He had a little setback early in the preparation so he’s first up in the Todman. He is one of our better colts, if not the best. He worked brilliantly here on Tuesday morning.”

VERANILLO (Brenton Avdulla) - “He ran very well in the Silver Slipper at his last start and he’s trained on nicely. I’m pretty sure he’ll be good in the ground being by Medaglia d’Oro

Race 4: ALUCINARI (Tim Clark) - “I thought she got to the worst part of the ground last start. She worked brilliantly this morning with a tongue tie on. She also handles wet ground so I’d expect a much-improved performance from her.”

Race 5: HAURAKI (Blake Shinn) - “He won first up last time at seven furlongs. Probably 1300m is a little short of his best, but he’s effective in the ground. He’s going to take a couple of runs to hit his straps. Going into the Doncaster, third-up, that’s when he’ll really peak.”

IMPENDING (Zac Purton) - “On the face of it he did look a little bit disappointing the other day, but I thought there were plenty of excuses for him. I thought he was on the worst part of the ground and he doesn’t like being cluttered up. He didn’t have his blinkers on, which he has this week. A smaller field means he won’t get cluttered up and it looks like there’ll be a good tempo. We won this race last year with Holler and although it’s a stronger version of this race, Impending is a much better horse on face value and in terms of his form. He will be very adept in the ground and I think he’s improved dramatically since his last run.”

Race 7: MALAISE (Zac Purton) – “It was a very good run at his last start at Flemington. We’ve brought him up here to Sydney with the prospect of a wet track and at this stage it looks as though that’ll be the case. His work on Wednesday morning was first class. He’s a progressive young horse who we’ve thought quite highly of. He’s had a good foundation, I’m sure the mile at Randwick will suit him, he’ll take up a position and he’s a horse who can be in the finish.”
