Dual Oaks-winning filly last season Egg Tart broke through for her first win since taking out the Queensland Oaks (Gr 1, 2200m) at Doomben in June last year. She was ridden quietly back in second last place in the eight-horse field before improving nicely from the 600m. She went to third on straightening, easily took the lead at the 200m and then went on to score a good win comfortably by two and a half lengths. It was also a good ride by Leith Innes. Tradesman travelled nicely back in fifth place, was under pressure from the home turn and kept plugging on well to get second in a photo from Megablast, who lead until nearing the 200m and then battled on for third, missing second by a narrow margin.
