Star filly Sunlight showed a lot of grit in taking out her sixth win (fourth stakes) in nine starts against a nice line up of fillies, fighting resolutely to the line. She was a tad slow to begin but improved quickly to sit three wide in third down the side. Rider Luke Currie pushed her closer near the last corner and into the straight ranged alongside the leaders. Currie asked for more inside the 200m and she put a half length on them then fought bravely to the line to have a half head to spare when it mattered. Humma Humma neared the last corner four wide in fifth then into the straight kept up a strong run, almost catching the winner in a super effort. Thrillster also finished well wide from worse than midfield for a tidy third three quarters of a length back from Qafila who was last into the straight and flashed into fourth late.
