A strong four length winner here on debut seven weeks ago, Tony Nicconi made it two from two with a solid effort. He was first away but jockey Luke Nolen was content to take the trail soon after and sit outside the leader. He cruised up to share the lead at the 300m then shot a length and a half clear at the 200m. Nolen kept him going and he was able to hold on fairly comfortably by a half length at the line. A nice run from Long Leaf who was third last at the 400m, pulled widest into the straight then kept up a strong run, flashing into a good second late. Native Soldier was third turning in, took over second at the 200m then fought on quite well to hold third another half length back. The August was fourth into the straight and battled on to hold his ground.
