Ball Of Muscle staged a very smart first-up effort in winning here. Having his first start since March the speedy eight-year-old began brilliantly from his wide barrier (10), went straight to the front and ran along at a strong tempo. He held a break at the 200m and then fought back gamely for a very good win. Voodoo Lad again settled back in the field and was second last in the 12-horse field at the home turn. He put in a run from the 300m and kept finishing well to gain second in a photo from his stablemate Brave Smash who was fourth on the rails to the home turn, before battling on gamely along the inner for third in a good first-up effort. Rich Charm ran on really well from ninth at the home turn for (1.2 lengths) fourth. The top weight (60kg) Santa Ana Lane was last into the straight and he caught the eye with his late-closing (1.4 lengths) fifth, resuming here.
