Classy South Australian mare Viddora staged an impressive first-up performance in taking out her second Group 1 race here. She settled in sixth place, tracking a hectic early tempo, improved coming to the home turn, went to second on straightening, took the lead at the 100m and went on to score a very good win. Brave Smash settled back in eighth place, between runners, eased deep rounding the home turn and ran on well for second. Spright settled at the tail of the 11-horse field, improved approaching the home turn and made considerable late ground to take third in a promising first up run. Snitty Kitty settled in fourth place, behind a quick pace, improved (deep) rounding the home turn and battled on well for (2.8 lengths) fourth in a sound first-up run. Houtzen was a handy fifth on the rails, got along the inner in the straight and battled on to hold fifth, beaten just over three lengths. The favourite Nature Strip worked hard in the early stages to find the lead and then ran along at a fast tempo, setting up a clear lead from the 600m, but he tired coming to the 100m to finish (4.4 lengths) eight, his early efforts at a fast early pace taking its toll in the latter stages.
