Highly consistent mare I Am Serious scored her eighth win (with six placings) in 15 starts in winning here, her first stakes success. She was settled in an ideal spot by James McDonald racing in third place on the rails, got into clear running at the 200m and finished far too well to score a smart win. Noted wet-tracker Mandylion led early on, and then eased to track new leader (Shumookh). She then kept battling on gamely in the straight, getting up to take second in a photo. Dixie Blossoms raced in seventh place, between runners, eased deeper and into clear running at the 300m and kept running on gamely under her top weight (58kg) to finish a good third. Shumookh worked in the early stages before crossing to the lead. She then travelled well, grabbed a break at the 300m before tiring after those efforts in the closing stages for (1.5 lengths) fourth.
