TAB took two record bets of $170,000 and $160,000 on the champion mare Winx before she extended her wining sequence to 28 races in the Turnbull Stakes at Flemington on Saturday.

One punter placed $170,000 at odds of $1.16 on the great mare, the biggest bet ever recorded on the mare with TAB.

Just before jump time another bet of $160,000 at odds of $1.10 also bettered the previous biggest bet which was $155,000 @ $1.10 taken before her previous win in the George Main Stakes

The volume of backing for Winx to win the Turnbull Stakes was one of the highest tallied during her fabled winning streak.

The amount of money placed on Winx to win (Fixed Odds only) was $2,477,506 (single bets only – no multis) with the mare accounting for a whopping 95 percent of the total investment on the race.

As a comparison, TAB held $2,934,188 (single bets only – no multis) on Winx to win last year’s Cox Plate

TAB lost almost $500,000 in fixed odds win bets on Winx in the Turnbull Stakes, the pay out being $2,834,402.

Another $140,000 was paid out on multis where Winx was the final winning leg.
