Today’s Horse Racing Tips – October 13

3 minute read

Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays for Australian TAB meetings on October 13.

Major metropolitan meetings across Australia are today held at Caulfield, Randwick, Doomben, Morphettville and Bunbury.

Caulfield: Race 9 @ 5:15pm

Native Soldier goes forward and Tavisan should find himself in the first few. Maybe Leonardo Da Hinchi presses over to race in the first trio. THE AUTUMN SUN should be able to take up a handy position from the good draw. He was awesome winning the Golden Rose last time from what looked a hopeless position turning for home. Going to relish getting back out to the mile now. Was strong at the end of the trip in Brisbane over the winter and looks a level ahead of these. LEONARDO DA HINCHI is tracking along nicely and could get a great run near the speed. Good 'n' Fast is a potential improver. SELECTIONS: Straight out #1 The Autumn Sun from #4.

Randwick: Race 8 @ 4:50pm

Mandylion, Arbeitsam and Classic Uniform set the pace. EGG TART should be ready for this fourth run from a spell. Each of her three runs this prep have been full of merit although was beaten as favourite last start when third in the Hill Stakes. Should be peaking and has a perfect record on Heavy tracks. Suspect the key form line for this is the Hill Stakes and IT'S SOMEWHAT ran second in that contest. Clearly the best run of his latest prep. Like Egg Tart, should also be peaking fourth up. Hasn't seen a wet track since autumn 2017 but claimed both the Ajax Stakes and Doncaster Mile on rain affected surfaces that campaign. No surprise to see Chris Waller boasting a strong hand with COMIN' THROUGH an excellent Plan B for the stable dropping back from Group 1 level. SELECTIONS: #12 Egg Tart worth one more chance from #3 and #2.

Doomben: Race 5 @ 3:37pm (AEST)

Good speed in this and Isis Magic looks the most likely to take it up. TVERSKY has come back in terrific order this campaign, winning all four races, the most recent over this C/D when getting the better of Niccanova. Has won both previous times on a heavy track and looks the one to beat again. HI I'M BACK resumed well when midfield at the Sunshine Coast last start. Up in trip for this and should get through the going well enough. TAILLEVENT brings some handy recent form with him and is next best. SELECTIONS: #1 Tversky for the win from #2 and #7.

Morphettville: Race 7 @ 5:26pm (AEST)

PETRELLE is a talented mare who has been far too good in winning her two starts to date at Ballarat and Bendigo. This is her acid test but she has plenty of upside. Expect her to be in this for a long way. CASINO WIZARD made a strong return from a spell when only beaten a nose in the Listed Wylie Handicap. Has won four of eight second up attempts. Big danger. HOLY BLADE made it two wins in a row when beating Casino Wizard in the Wylie. Must respect winning form. MICA LIL also deserves a place in the multiples. SELECTIONS: Backing #12 Petrelle to take the step up and continue the unbeaten run. Saving on #2 Casino Wizard.

Bunbury: Race 4 @ 5.14pm (AEST)

Good competitive sprint contest with a number of these more than capable on best form. Speed anticipated from Special Reward, Multiverse, Kimbo's Girl and Lord Sherwood. SPECIAL REWARD displayed above average ability during his maiden preparation and remains a big watch fresh for the Simon Miller stable. Sole trial in the lead up was very good and he certainly looked sharp at the trials. Gets the blinkers back on and should prove very hard to beat. MULTIVERSE is clearly flying and chases his fourth straight win. Rises 2kg at the weights, but still looms as a major threat. SNOW BLOSSOM a big watch in her return to Bunbury (placed 8/9). SELECTIONS: Very keen on #8 Special Reward from #1 and #6.

The Autumn Sun took out his third Group 1 victory in six starts with a highly impressive performance in winning here. He was smartly away but was then caught three wide outside the leading pair (Tavisan and Native Soldier) at a solid early tempo. He went to the front on turning for home and then raced away, despite his difficult trip, to score by four and half-lengths and is clearly a very high quality colt. Vassilator settled in eighth place, tracked wide with cover from the mid-stages, went to third on turning for home and then battled on well for a good second in a really promising effort. The filly Oohood raced back in last place in the 13-horse field, went deep at the home turn and then ran on really well for good third in a very good performance.
