Ted Baker Ladies' Day Vase (G3)

Age: 4yo and up Sex: M Type: OPEN

Group 1 winning mare I Am A Star recorded her ninth stakes success in 26 starts in scoring here. She was quickly away from her outside barrier (12) and soon went to the front. She then travelled really well, slowing the pace, dashed clear at the 200m and then held on to win well. Kenedna raced in sixth place (wide with cover), was under riding when the tempo picked up at the home turn and then ran on well in the sprint home for a very good second at her third run this preparation. Oregon's Day raced in ninth place (wide the cover), moved up (deep) rounding the home run and finished well in the sprint home for third. Temple Of Bel settled back in second last place and the 11-horse field, improved (deep) at the home run and ran on really well for (0.7 lengths) fourth in a smart effort at her second run back while the former WA-trained mare Friar Fox, now in the Darren Weir stable caught the eye in running on late from the tail of the field for (2.5 lengths) seventh, looking suited to further.
