This slowly run event provided a dead-heat result. Godolphin's import Best Of Days, having his fifth start in this country, settled really well for James McDonald in third place on the rails, got a split on straightening, looked the winner when he took a very narrow advantage at the 50m but then had to contend with a dead-heat result in a bob-ofthe-heads finish. He then survived a protest from the co-winner Mask Of Time, who led and after setting a steady pace fought back for a shared victory. Life Less Ordinary raced in second last place (on the rails) in the seven-horse field. He was blocked when improving at the 300m and then ran on well along the inner, in the sprint home, for a good third in a nice effort at his third run this preparation.
