After placings at his first two runs this preparation, Sircconi scored a really good win here, his first win in just over 12 months. He settled in fourth place (one out and one back) behind a good tempo, went to third coming to the home turn, got the upper hand at the 100m and went on to win well. Dreamforce led early on and after being pressured (by Music Magnate) at a solid tempo, eased to race in second place. He moved up coming to the home turn and took the lead again at the 300m and then battled on well for second after his early efforts. Perast settled in fifth place but deep from his outside barrier (10). He went to third on turning for home and then fought on well after a difficult trip. The favourite Tom Melbourne raced in sixth place, improved (between runners) coming to the home turn but battled from that point for fourth.
