Defending her win in this race last year, Dainty Tess produced her typical whirlwind finish, flying the last 200m to add win 14 to her tally and take her earnings beyond the million dollar marker. She jumped with them but soon drifted to settle second last. She caught the back of the pack inside the 400m but rounding wide into the straight found herself last, out in the middle of the track. Rider Chris Parnham got busy and between the 200m and 100m she gathered in the leaders then kept flying to lead at the 50m before edging away just before the post. Lockroy was in front of the winner turning in, ran up to the leaders at the 100m but could only watch the winner flash past. Profit Street was equal last at the 400m then kept finding through the pack to grab a good third. Durendal also threaded between runners late to nab fourth.
