Tony McEvoy-trained mare Cool Passion, runner up in this race last year, was having only her fifth run since then in winning here. She began well from her wide barrier (11), settled well outside the leader (Our Crown Mistress), challenged on turning for home, got to the front at the 100m and then dug deep to score a good win. Princess Posh did not show any early pace and settled near the tail of the 15-horse field. She improved along the inner from the 600m, continued through to challenge at the 200m and then fought well for (half-neck) second. The favourite Savatiano settled in tenth place from her wide barrier (12), tracked up approaching the home turn, sprinted from the 300m and kept making ground for a close-up third, just in advance of Our Crown Mistress who led the field until the latter stages before finishing (1.1 lengths) fourth.
