Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays for Australian TAB meetings on January 9.
Seven TAB meetings are held across Australia on this Wednesday at Canterbury, Caulfield, Stony Creek, Doomben, York, Bordertown & Devonport.
Canterbury: Race 2 @ 2:25pm
Suspect Knowitall Jack can work across. KNOWITALL JACK ran second on debut over 1250m on the Kensington. Was only narrowly beaten as favourite on that occasion. Will have taken valuable race experience and fitness from the run. Can go one better. Have like the trials of MILUNKA. Is a half sister to dual Group 1 placegetter Kuro. Looks to have inherited her fair share of ability as well. PLENTY on the short turnaround also worth thought. SELECTIONS: Siding with #4 Knowitall Jack.

Stony Creek: Race 3 @ 1:30pm
CREATIVE HARMONY followed up on his solid run fresh at Werribee when only narrowly beaten at this track last start over the mile. Should be right at his top racing third up and with Maskiell legging aboard, he should prove very hard to beat. ELIZANO hasn't been far off the mark in recent runs and rates highly in this line up on best form. Drawn well and looms as a major threat. THE HAKA remains under strong notice from the good draw. SELECTIONS: With Team Gelgo and very keen on #2 Creative Harmony.
Caulfield: Race 3 @ 5:00pm
Pace should be solid with 6 and 7 among those prominent. Good race. YULONG SEPTEMBER did a good job to recover from a slow getaway last time. Closed well in what looks a good race. Win prior to that was a cracker and the mile looks a big bonus for him now. MAHIS ANGEL couldn't reel in the winner but didn't get momentum at a vital stage around the Valley last time. That form should work out. ROYAL PERFORMANCE arrives off a promising maiden win and has better in store. SELECTIONS: Yulong September appeals in a hot race.
Devonport: Race 8 @ 5:22pm
Kool Kash and Hugo each prominent. EASTENDER caught the eye first up when closing well into second behind Willby Rules in the Golden Mile. Has been kept ticking over since then with a 1350m trial here. Suspect he will be going one better. SPEED FORCE is racing consistently so far this prep. OVERPLAY off a last start win at this track next elect. SELECTIONS: Easy to like #2 Eastender.
Bordertown: Race 7 @ 5.40pm (AEDT)
MADJA is an exciting prospect who won well at Naracoorte. Lightly-raced mare with good upside and looks capable of racing through her grades. Looks hard to stop. LET'S TANGO was beaten less than 2L last start after a win and a placing at his previous two. That is solid form for this and has won at this distance before. Rates highly. LITTLE HEATH was racing consistently before his latest run. Worth another chance. SELECTIONS: #1 Madja is on the up. Backing to win again from #7 and #5.
York: Race 3 @ 5:44pm (AEDT)
FLIRTY FRIARS is yet to break through from seven starts, but continues to race well, most recently finishing third at Pinjarra over 2000m. Went down as favourite there, but his performance still held merit when unsuited by the moderate tempo. Well placed here, clearly the one to beat. BLACK RUSSIAN failed to come into contention on debut last time in, but has to be kept safe fresh for the Durrant/Parnham combination. SUDAN displayed good improvement last start and appears the next in line. SELECTIONS: Very keen on #6 Flirty Friars.
Doomben: Race 9 @ 6:25pm (AEDT)
TATCEE is a talented filly racing well having placed at her last two outings since scoring a Gold Coast win. Expect she will appreciate going back up in trip. Rates on top. HOUSE OF DRAMA scored at Lismore last start. Is putting together a handy record and should be peaking third up. Can pose a threat. HIGH DEGREE worked home for second when resuming and has won second up before. LILAKAI is consistent and can be competitive again. SELECTIONS: #8 Tatcee to appreciate the mile. Backing to win from #4, #2 and #9.
