Hobart: Race 8 @ 5:00pm

The two in form Victorians looks hard to beat on recent ratings. AL GALAYEL is in great form with two wins on end before a fast finishing second latest over 2000m at Caulfield. First try at the trip but looks suited at the longer journey and hard to knock recent form. Go close. LAMBORGHINI is a veteran galloper who is arguably in career best form for Patrick Payne. Has been relishing the apprentice claim lately but senior rider goes on and still drops nicely in the weights on last start win at Caulfield. Trip suits and should run well. EASTENDER was a determined winner of the Summer Cup here last time. Down in weight on the win where he beat many of these home. Looks a strong chance again. SELECTIONS: Going with #2 Al Galayel while #4 Lamborghini is the quinella chance.

Wodonga: Race 1 @ 1.00pm

SQUEEZABLE is ex Darren Weir ready to win for Team Hayes. Missed a lip LS at Pakenham and she will use the rail with Luke Nolen on. Clearly the one to beat. LA BELLA COSTA was much better at Mornington with the gear tweaks and gets the chance to progress. FUGA resumes for the same yard and is drawn well. Gets the 3kg claim and keep very safe. SELECTIONS: She will be fancied but # 9 Squeezable should be getting the chocolates from #4 and #3.

Dubbo: Race 7 @ 4:30pm

A MARTIN PLACEPICK is in career best form. His record at 1400m is exemplary and see no reason why he can't continue on his winning ways here. Rider has developed a fantastic association with the gelding and with good speed expected here he should be afforded every opportunity to run on late and be very hard to hold out. THERMOSA caught the eye last start over 1400m when racing up on the speed and only run down in the last few strides of the race. That effort alone puts him in good stead here and the wide gate shouldn't be an issue as they'll be pushing forward again. Looks the danger. WESTLINK has been very consistent this time in without winning and hit the line hard over the 1400m at Wellington last start. Jockey has travelled for the ride. SELECTIONS: #1 A Martin Placepick for the win from #2 and #4..

Colac: Race 7 @ 4.50pm

Hard to go past top-weight TARQUIN who's been acquitting himself very well of late. His win last start at Caulfield on Australia Day was gutsy, as was his placing at Flemington the start prior. Luck from the gate here and he'll be hard to hold out. Dangers come in the form of STRATEGIC DEMAND who, despite a slight drift, was too good in the Great Western Cup. And ZEBRINZ, who was just over a length off second pick in that aforementioned Cup. Both are racing with confidence and can challenge. SELECTIONS: #1 Tarquin for the win from #2 and #6.

Eastender staged a strong staying effort in taking out this Group 3 feature, his third win in succession and his ninth win from 20 career-starts. He settled at the tail of the 11-horse field, improved from the 700m but was switched to the rails by Craig Newitt rounding the home turn, hit the front on straightening and out-stayed his rivals to win well. Lamborghini was midfield, improved coming to the home turn, challenged out deep on turning for home and kept fighting on for second, narrowly in advance of the third-placed Appmat who was handily placed all the way before taking the lead nearing the home turn. The favourite Al Galayel was just beyond midfield, attempted to improve from the 600m but just battled from that point to finish 10th, racing well below in best on the affected track.
