Tasmanian Guineas (Listed, 1600m) winner The Inevitable staged a really good effort in stepping up in class here to score here, his fifth win in six starts to date. He raced in sixth place, travelling deep, moved up well (wide) rounding the home turn, challenged on straightening, got the upper hand in the closing stages for Sigrid Carr and then battled strongly to score narrowly but well. Age Of Chivalry went to the front, lifted the tempo coming to the home turn and then fought back gamely when challenged for a very good second. O'Tauto raced in eighth place (wide with cover), moved up nicely at the 400m and the fought on well for third in a promising effort. Ranier was about seventh, between runners, got into clear running at the 300m and battled on for a sound fourth, beaten just over two lengths.
