Talented Godolphin-raced colt Microphone took his record to two wins and a second from three starts in taking out this Listed race in good style. He tracked a quick tempo in third place, close to the rails side, went through on the inner to hit the front nearing the 200m and then went on to score impressively by just over two lengths. Peter and Paul Snowden-trained filly Talented followed her good win on debut in a two-year-old maiden (1100m) at Geelong on January 27 with a smart performance advancing in class here. She settled near the tail of the 16-horse field, racing near the rails wide, improved well on the inner to fourth at the 300m, went to second at the 100m and fought well to hold that position. Ciaron Maher and David Eustace-trained filly Charleise went very well here. She raced close to the free-going leader (Lanigera), went to second at the 200m and battled on gamely for third in a really promising effort in this class on debut.
