Fresh up after racing against the best of her gender and age group last spring, Qafila returned to winning form with a solid win here. She dropped out to second last after 200m and then sat last alone at the 1000m. Down the side she was still last at the 600m, improved when starting the last corner and was widest yet giving the leader five lengths at the 300m. Balancing, she was still four lengths away at the 200m then flew, catching up at the 50m and racing clear for a nice win, her second, both stakes. Angelic Ruler sat third last down the side (rails), pulled wider into the straight, tried to stay with the winner but was out-finished. Zoubo was fifth, one out, turning in, challenged five deep from the 300m, co-led at the 50m and fought well for third from News Girl who led them to the 100m but was swamped over the last 50m.
