Avilius is building an imposing record, now winning eight of 15 starts and unbeaten in two starts since resuming this preparation. He settled nicely for Hugh Bowman in fifth place, improved behind runners nearing the home turn, took a spit at the 200m, hit the front at the 100m and went on to score comfortably in a smart performance by horse and rider. Trap For Fools went to the front, set quite a good tempo and then fought back particularly well in the straight for a very good second at his second run this preparation. Ace High raced in sixth place, one off the rails, moved up (deep) at the home turn and kept battling well for a third in a nice effort at his second run back. Night's Watch settled back in ninth place, improved behind runners on straightening and kept finishing on well for (3.2 lengths) fourth, also when having his second run back.
