Winx set a new TAB betting benchmark when she captured her fourth Chipping Norton Stakes at Randwick on Saturday.

The champion mare now holds the honour of being the subject of the biggest ever bet taken by TAB on a horse race after one punter placed a whopping $280,000 @ $1.08 just prior to the jump.

The record bet came after another of $239,000 @ $1.09 placed earlier in the day. That investment was from Winx’s biggest fan, who has been letting his bets ride on the daughter of Street Cry for two years.

Prior to the $280,000 bet, Winx and Black Caviar had shared the mantle for the biggest ever TAB bet of $250,000 placed on Winx in the 2019 Apollo Stakes and on Black Caviar at odds of $1.14 when she won the 2015 TJ Smith Stakes in her final career start.

Winx accounted for 98.5 percent of all TAB fixed odds win bets placed on the Chipping Norton Stakes on Saturday.

Her starting price of $1.08 is the equal shortest SP for Winx during her 31-race winning streak. She was also $1.08 in the 2016 George Main Stakes.

The amount of money placed on Winx to win with TAB Fixed Odds was $2,867,482 (single bets only – no Multis).

The pay out by the TAB on Fixed Odds win bets was $3,114,570 (no Multis). The amount rose to $3,322,309 when Multi bets where Winx was the final winning leg were included.

Winx is now at $1.10 to win the Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Randwick on April 13.
