Consistent Gold Coast-trained mare Winter Bride took her record to nine wins – now three at Group 3 - from 18 starts in scoring a smart first-up win here. She began well, settled nicely in sixth place, one off the rails, improved from the 300m, hit the front at the 50m and went on to win by short neck and in fast time. The favourite Spright raced in eighth place, tracked the winner from the 600m, challenged at the 100m, and fought well for second. Resin had a nice trip in fourth place, challenged at the 200m and battled on well for a close-up third. Sweet Scandal worked, trapped three wide, sharing the lead, took a clear advantage at the 200m and then held on well for (1.5 lengths) fourth after a difficult trip.
