Godolphin-raced filly Pin Sec is now unbeaten in two starts, following her win on debut in a two-year-old maiden (1100m) at Randwick on December 26 with a really smart win, resuming here. She travelled well for Jason Collett in fifth place on the rails, behind a good tempo before switching deeper and into clear running on turning for home. She then sprinted quickly, took the lead at the 100m and then drew away to score impressively by four lengths. Peter and Paul Snowden-trained colt Rome moved up early on to race outside the leader (his stablemate McLaren). He challenged that runner at the home turn and then kept fighting on quite well for second, having no chance with the winner. McLaren was quickly away and went straight to the front. But he was under pressure straightening and then kept battling on quite well for third. All Cylinders was slowly away, was second last early on before moving up but was then caught three deep outside the leading duo. He ran about at the home turn and then held on for fourth, albeit over seven lengths from the winner.
