Bjorn Baker-trained stayer Samadoubt staged a good frontrunning effort in winning here, his eighth win but his first at stakes level in 33 starts to date. He was smartly away and soon crossed from barrier ten to take the lead. He then travelled nicely at a reasonable tempo, beat off challengers and grabbed a break on straightening the then went on to score quite comfortably by two lengths. Taikomochi was smartly away and soon crossed before settling well in third place, with cover. He moved up approaching the home turn, went to second at the 200m and then held on well to secure that placing in a photo from Almost Court, who had been a handy fourth most of the way before fighting on well for third. The favourite Morton's Fork had a good trip in sixth place, on the rails, but just battled on in the straight to finish (4.5 lengths) sixth.
