Having her third run back and appreciating the affected conditions, the well-supported mare Siren's Fury scored a good win. She settled back in second last place in the seven-horse field, tracking a good tempo, before being switched out at the 200m and then came with a strong late bid to grab a narrow but good win. Manuel raced back in fifth place, moved up from the 300m, got to the front inside the 100m, only to be caught nearing the post for (long head) second. New Zealand-raider Ardrossan raced in fourth place, got to a narrow lead at the 200m and then fought on well for third. Music Magnate raced outside the leader (Estijaab) put pressure on her nearing the home turn and then battled on for (4 lengths) fourth while the favourite Estijaab tired in the heavy conditions over the latter stages to finish last after leading until halfway down the straight.
