Rosehill: Race 9 @ 5:45pm

MAHALANGUR (7) returned in a big way last start and appears well placed to break through. He stuck on well for second to Star Of The Seas when conceding a fitness edge. He is better off at the weights, should improve second up and is drawn to land in the right spot. SPRING CHARLIE (9) returned in great order last start when very game on-speed behind his stablemate Safado at Hawkesbury. Since trialled very well and this should give him the perfect platform for the Provincial Championships Final. Shinn sticks and he shapes as one of the hardest to beat. STAR OF THE SEAS (10) won well on his home track last start and only has to hold that form to be right in the finish again. SELECTIONS: #7 Mahalangur for the win second up.

Bendigo: Race 5 @ 2.50pm

LA BELLA DIOSA (2) was terrific first up in Sydney in a better race than this. She powered home and on that evidence she will be winning this. The big query is that she did something similar first up last prep when winning at Caulfield and then failed to replicate it. She is handed a great chance here. MISS SISKA (6) can run well first up at 1400m. Think she gets into a positive spot without too much trouble. TWITCHY FRANK (1) has been racing well in similar and should be around the mark again. TRULY DISCREET (5) and JESTER HALO (7) have hopes. SELECTIONS: #2 La Bella Diosa for the win.

Doomben: Race 8 @ 4.42pm (AEDT)

BRAINS (2) has been in good form this campaign, running fourth at his past two outings after returning with back-to-back wins. Drops from open grade back to a C6 and has a 50 per cent strike rate at this distance. Has had a month off but kept up to the mark with a trial. Big chance. I AM IMPINGE (9) made a solid return when he kept working to the line for fourth. Will be improved by that and has a good record at this distance. RIVER RACER (4) has been freshened since finishing close up in both runs after a spell. Races well here and should be fit enough after a recent trial. ALL SUMMER LONG (1) has claims off a last-start Gold Coast win. SELECTIONS: #2 Brains has each way appeal after a freshen up.

Morphettville: Race 7 @ 5.36pm (AEDT)

DESPATCH (4) is the one on the rise. He really found the line well on Adelaide Cup day. Don't forget his Redelva Stakes win if repeated goes close. I AM SOMEONE (5) has been racing very nicely in Melbourne. He battled bravely in the Bob Hoysted Handicap but this is his distance. Scored his only time here as well. Tough to beat. SCHILLDORA (9) made up good ground a month back at MV. Now has to bring that to open company. CASINO WIZARD (1) can pull out a run when he wants. ZALMONA (3) just keeps finding the placings. SELECTIONS: Backing #4 Despatch for the win.

Ascot: Race 7 @ 7.05pm (AEDT)

PLATOON (1) did beat Regal Power last time but had the favours. That said he did look good and if he repeats the effort he'll be a threat. At the odds his worth backing again. REGAL POWER (2) won well over a mile before very unlucky as an odds-on favourite at 1800m last time. Extra distance should suit and drawn ideally. Threat. BLACKWOOD RIVER (3) has been improving with each start this prep and stayed on well behind the top two in his latest. Definite chance. Without Reason and Cockney Crew are among the each-way chances. SELECTIONS: Backing #1 Platoon to win again.
