3 minute read

Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays for Australian TAB meetings on April 4.

Five TAB meetings are held across Australia on this Thursday at Gosford, Geelong, Pakenham, Ipswich & Geraldton.

Geelong: Race 6 @ 4:00pm

Not clear cut the speed, but Zabelarina may lead with the blinkers applied. DIVANATION (5) is promising and didn’t have the best of it resuming as a hot favourite at the Valley at this trip. Fitter he will be tough to beat for the form yard. ZABELARINA (10) runs along and has been knocking on the door. Has to be considered with the blinkers applied. MINYINGA (3) is racing well and has missed a lip the last two. They stack right up and she will get every chance from the handy gate. LORD GLADSTONE (7) is better than the odds suggest and keep him safe. SELECTIONS: Keen on #5 Divanation.

Ipswich Race 3 @ 3.25pm AEDT

Godolphin cast-off SANGLIER (5) recorded his first win for Matthew Dunn last start over 1100m at Murwillumbah, leading from barrier rise to destroy his rivals by over 7 lengths. Twice placed at Listed level so has the class to score again in this company. WOOSHKA (4) has been just behind the placegetters at both runs this prep over 1110m at Doomben. Won at Canterbury last prep when trained by Team Snowden - can threaten if she finds that form. I AM VENUS (7) showed pace but tired to finish well back recently over 1200m at the Gold Coast. Twice a winner at this distance so worth another chance. The winner will come from this trio barring a boilover. SELECTIONS: #5 Sanglier to make it back-to-back wins.

Gosford: Race 6 @ 4:20pm

Hostwin Epanoui has drawn out but can cross and lead in a truly run mile. ZOFFANY'S LAD (2) has raced twice this prep, on both occasions in Provincial Championship qualifiers. Attacked the line well to finish just behind the placegetters in both of those races over 1400m. Won third up last prep and the progression to a mile today is ideal. ONTHETAKE (6) continued her good form this prep with a win at Class 1 level last time out over this trip at Hawkesbury. Progressive filly who has further improvement to come at her fourth run back. COLLINS CREEK (5) was back in the winner's list last start, leading all the way for a dogged victory over this journey at Scone. Hard gelding to beat once he finds form. COOL AND NEAT (1) stormed home to win over 1400m last time and has further improvement to come. SELECTIONS #2 Zoffany's Lad looks the winner coming back sharply in grade.

Pakenham: Race 7 @ 9:00pm

ZOUTORI (10) is a promising type who resumes from a spell. Hasn't raced since finishing fourth in the Group 2 Sandown Guineas but does go well fresh. Has a bit of class and will be winding up strongly. SWEET SNITTY (4) is racing well this campaign including a last start win in slightly easier grade. Further improved and a definite winning charts from the inside draw. YULONG KNIGHT (5) is a former Irish galloper who was solid when resuming and won't find this any tougher. Expected to be much improved on the Australian debut. CALL IT A DAY (1) rates well and is an each way hope again. SELECTIONS: Zoutori has class and will be tough to stop fresh.
