Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays for Australian TAB meetings on April 17.
Six TAB meetings are held across Australia on this Wednesday at Warwick Farm, Geelong, Ipswich, Pinjarra, Murray Bridge & Darwin.
Warwick Farm: Race 8 @ 4.55pm
The fresh horse Somethingvain will go fast and lead from a wall of chasers at a hot tempo. RESTRAINED (6) is hardest to beat in a competitive race. Won first up over this trip at Kembla then tasted defeat for the first time when a luckless 5th over 1300m on the Kensington track last time. Looks a winning chance back to this trip. COME ALONG (15) has been racing very well of late in shorter events but looks ready for this distance now. Is a winner at seven furlongs and will relish the hot tempo up front. Last start winner CUBAN ROYALE (8) cannot be underestimated. Had a 44-day break before leading all the way to easily score at Moruya in open company over 1425m recently. Talented gelding who has earned his shot in town. Last start winner MAKTOUM (1) is not to be overlooked. SELECTIONS: #6 Restrained to return to the winner's list.

Murray Bridge: Race 5 @ 2:45pm
SET TO CRUISE (1) has been in great form with wins at two of last three. Freshened for this and drawn for a good run. Expected to go close again. MASTER CHUM (3) is overdue for a win with four good runs this campaign. Honest and will be winding up strongly. CAMPOBASSO (2) wasn't far away in town fresh and is suited by the extra ground. Looks well placed here. EXALTED TRAVELLER (4) is overdue for a win and down in the weights today will be right in the mix again. TIME ROGUE (6) was placed fresh and can sneak into the finish again. SELECTIONS Set To Cruise should be in the finish again.
Ipswich: Race 6 @ 3:28pm
WE CONCUR (3) will use the low gate and followed the big Grafton win with a near miss this grade at the Gold Coast after a slow off. He’s promising and fitter can record his third win in six starts. COASTAL PRINCE (4) resumes and is also an improver who’s up to this. Will race over further but he’s trialled well and Lloyd is a key booking. ROTHMAN (7) won Maiden well at Port Macquarie and it was deserved. Is back after 41 days for the Birchley yard and can’t be dismissed lightly given a good ride. SPIRIT OF CHEROKEE (11) just missed two back and is in the mix pushing forward. SELECTIONS: #3 We Concur with upside and favours in the run.
Geelong: Race 9 @ 5:05pm
Think PETRELLE (2) should be too classy here. Failed last run but in Group 3 grade when pulled up lame. Previous form was great including an effortless fresh up win. Hard to beat here. CAPANNELLO (3) has placed at two of last three and is right in this. LA LOVA (11) is fitter and will take catching off the inside. BUCKLER (5) could be value but is going well. SELECTIONS: Petrelle can prove too classy.
Pinjarra: Race 8 @ 6:55pm
Jacka’s Mob can lead from Regent Star. DOC FRIAR (4) settles back but hit the line hard winning the Maiden at Bunbury and then didn’t have the best of it just missing as favourite at Ascot. Keeps Pike from those and can bounce back with a good ride. OUR GIRL MARLI (5) was wide at Ascot and was good up to the middle distance. Draws low today and is a genuine chance. SATIRIC (6) made sharp improvement at Ascot up to this trip and then mucked up at the start and disappointed there after. Draws to advantage and a much better effort is on the cards. JACKA'S MOB (1) runs along and prepared to forgive the latest. First time this trip but has to be considered. SELECTIONS: #4 Doc Friar rates well and Pike hangs around to ride.
