Having his fourth run this preparation, the German-bred gelding Plein Ciel scored a good win here, his first stakes success and his seventh win in 16 starts. He was given a good trip by Craig Williams in third place on the rails from his inside barrier (1). He got along the inner to hit the front on straightening and then went on to win well. Furrion raced in sixth place, one off the rails, improved (deep) at the home turn, challenged at the 200m and then fought well for second. Morton's Fork had a nice trip in fifth place on the rails from his good barrier (2). He got along the rails to be a challenging position at the 200m and then kept battling well for third. Odeon raced outside the leader (Magnapal), got to the front briefly at the home turn and then battled on for (3.2 lengths) fourth.
