Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays for Australian TAB meetings on April 24.
Six TAB meetings are held across Australia on this Wednesday at Wyong, Pakenham, Wangaratta, Ipswich, Geraldton & Launceston.
Wyong: Race 4 @ 2.35pm
Dragon Li might lead here in what looks sure to be a muddling run race. COSTAS (1) caught the eye when he worked home impressively to finish a close 3rd over this trip at Hawkesbury (metro meeting) five weeks ago. Probably races closer today from a good gate with little pace on and he will prove very tough to hold out. ROYAL ANTHEM (4) was there to win on straightening but was left standing by Uno That over 1400m at Kembla last start. Fitter for two runs back and the extra furlong is a big tick. DRAGON LI (10) showed pace to the turn then dropped right out over 2000m at Canberra last time out. Lightweight hope coming back to this trip. GUEST (2) has been about the money of late and is a must for the exotics. SELECTIONS: #1 Costas is poised to break through.

Wangaratta: Race 5 @ 3:30pm
BORN TO FIGHT (5) is fitter for two runs back and looks ready. Did win only try third up which was here. Has strong claims. FOOT FOOT (8) ran on strongly fresh over seven furlongs. Rates among the top chances here. DISCOMBOBULATE (7) scored last time and worth thought again here. Should run out the extra trip strongly. CAPTAIN HARRY (4) is close to breaking through and is drawn for the last shot. ANNANICOLESNITZ (3) has the claim and will take catching. SELECTIONS Born To Fight looks the one.
Geraldton: Race 3 @ 4:12pm AEST
Robyn's Son from the middle of the line can lead from Yourtheoneforme. CRYPTO (8) was held up for a run at a vital stage last start over 1200m at Ascot before launching a late bid and just missing. Ready for another crack at seven furlongs and looks to have this race at his mercy. YOURTHEONEFORME (7) worked home well without threatening to grab 2nd over this course and distance last time out. Very fit and looks the only danger to the top pick. ROBYN'S SON (2) recorded his first placing recently when beaten a length over 1200m here. Trifecta chance. SPOOKWOOD (1) didn't have much luck at Ascot last start and is worth including in multis. SELECTIONS: Open the shoulders on #8 Crypto.
Ipswich: Race 8 @ 4:40pm
High cost to lead. SMARTYPY (5) trialled well and then made sharp improvement winning here two weeks ago. Finds harder but is a big chance with the weight drop. HIGH COST (1) is building well and is a speedy galloper suited on the wet. Should be right in the finish. ARCHADE (7) was much better the latest and that more than stacks up. A win wouldn't surprise. SELECTIONS: Smartypy (5) looks the one with the key scratchings.
Launceston: Race 7 @ 8:15pm
Roulette Star and Pira Noona are the likely pacemakers. STORMONT (2) won the Maiden well and then got back placing after hitting the line well. Keeps improving and can win getting a better run from the lower draw. FONTEIN HARRY (1) has the ability and was better when close up here the latest. Keeps Newitt and should go close with a good ride. SKY FOX (6) will be fitter and is a Brunton improver who needs to be kept safe. PIRA NOONA (8) will run along and was much better last time. He can make the frame with a repeat. SELECTIONS: #2 Stormont rates well.
Pakenham: Race 8 @ 9:30pm
DOROZA (10) turned in a strong return over seven furlongs when slow out and in traffic. Fitter and trip suits. Excellent winning chance. GRETZKY (11) was well below best last time in tougher grade. Worth another chance and will take running down despite draw. ATLANTIC EXPRESS (3) is honest and among the chances. Don't underestimate. ALSVIN (2) is going well and among the chances. SELECTIONS: Doroza will go close after strong return.
