Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays for Australian TAB meetings on May 9.
Five TAB meetings are held across Australia on this Thursday at Hawkesbury, Pakenham, Seymour, Townsville & Pinjarra.
Hawkesbury: Race 1 @ 12:30pm
Nowyunomi, Costa Zou and Exterminate to go forward at a modest tempo. NOWYUNOMI (1) made nice progress last start at just his second appearance, racing closer to the speed and pressing hard but finding one better over 1400m at Kembla. Bred to appreciate this sort of trip and with further improvement today looks the winner. ZENARDINI (4) returned from a 29-week spell last start with an encouraging 3rd over 1400m at Randwick, working home in good style although never threatening. At the weights looks the only realistic threat to the top pick. COSTA ZOU (3) just battled away when midfield recently over 2000m at Kembla. A little dour but is an each-way chance in this line-up. THE GOLDEN BEAR (2) can improve at just his second career start. SELECTIONS: #1 Nowyunomi looks ready to win.

Seymour: Race 3 @ 2:00pm
HEAD NOISES (11) has placed at all three runs so far. The latest was in stakes class over a little further when just missed so will go close back in maiden class. The one to beat. DIXIE BUILT (2) was in the finish last time and should go close again. Long overdue. CATCHA SPARK (1) is close to a win. Drawn well and rates a strong winning chance. FIRST WATER (3) placed fresh and can only be improved. QUERCUS (6) was well held latest but among the each way chance on best. SELECTIONS Head Noises is overdue and gets chance.
Pakenham: Race 5 @ 8:00pm
QUORA (11) resumes for Team Hayes and is promising. Missed a lip on debut four back at this trip and posted a strong peak two back before a complete forgive in stronger grade at the Valley. Draws handy with a claim and owns a good trial. OCEAN KING (4) is ex Darren Weir resuming for the Stokes yard. Comes off a checked run in a stronger race and has trialled well for this. Expect a good return. BIONICS (7) draws out but has been racing well and has to be considered, as does SOLOMON (6).SELECTIONS: A nice starting point for #11 Quora.
Pinjarra: Race 3 @ 8:17pm
SIR MAMBO (5) is a promising galloper who missed a lip here resuming off a 5L Belmont trial win. He was slow away in that and did a big job as favourite. Gets the Visors first time and is sure to take beating. INDIGO WILD (9) resumes with Pike on first time and is feared. Showed plenty of ability the first campaign and she can come back improved. OUR PHANDIERI (10) got back but hit the line hard placing here resuming and will be better for it. Gets the claim today and can be in the finish. OUR MATE BOOTS (2) resumes owning a Lark Hill trial win. Gets the claim and blinkers first time and can fill a minor spot. SELECTIONS: # 5 Sir Mambo looks suited.
