Morphettville: Race 7 @ 4.36pm (AEST)

In the G1 South Australian Derby, DECLARATIONOFHEART (3) has had a lovely foundation for this. He showed he'd recovered well from the Australian Derby to win the Chairman's Stakes. He should have won it by further. Gets a great run all the way from the draw. MR QUICKIE (2) has been in top form in Melbourne. The only question is will he get the trip but everything says so. RIDGEWOOD DRIVE (8) put his hooves up with a big win last week. Related to a stayer and may go on with it. QAFILA (16) is the filly with a hope. She made up big ground in the Australasian Oaks. CHAPADA (1) has had a month off after Sydney. Might enjoy a softer track too. SELECTIONS: Happy to stay with #3 Declarationofheart. Small bet on #16 Qafila too.

Doomben: Race 2 @ 12.00pm

NATCH (4) was strong to the line when scoring a resuming win at Toowoomba. His second up form is even better and he should relish the extra 100m having a 50 per cent strike rate at the distance. Drawn to go close. EF TROOP (7) is a former leading juvenile yet to really deliver at three. Easy winner of a recent trial and races well fresh so could blow them away if anywhere near his best. MAGIC FOX (13) finished off last campaign with good form. Has scored fresh before and is aided by a low draw. Good chance. NO ANNAMOSSITY (2) worked home to place at Listed level first up. Has won second up before so can progress. I'VE GOTTA NEL (9) is consistent and worth including. SELECTIONS: Backing #4 Natch each way off a good resuming win.

Ascot: Race 1 @ 2:24pm (AEST)

SPECIALISM (1) had the run of the race and got home by the barest margin last start over 1000m at this track. Beaten narrowly in the WA Sires prior to that to underline her quality. Looks the winner back up to a more suitable 1200m today. MIA DOLCE (5) has struck form and is a threat. Made it two in a row last time when a comfortable all-the-way winner over this course and distance. Drawn perfectly and gets a nice weight pull in the top pick. The lightly raced ROCKY PATH (7) made late ground to finish 2.3 lengths behind Mia Dolce here recently. Hard to see her turning the tables but has solid trifecta claims. ANGEL WHISPER (3) was okay on debut and is next in line..SELECTIONS: The class of #1 Specialism to shine through.

Caulfield: Race 7 @ 3:40pm

PROPELLE (1) will get back in the run from her wide draw but she looks like getting a genuine tempo to run at. Sound start to this prep and then exploded here third up when winning in strong overall figures last time. Terrific chance of rounding them up again on the back of that. VOILA (5) can come to her peak third up. Liked the way that she found the line last time. IRRESISTABLE GIRL (9) might be one more run away from her top but she did well in the same race and must have a hope. TRILLI (14) is one that can run well at odds. She was a winner second up last prep and her best ratings are solid for this. NOTATION (4) also rates well. She may need it first up but must be respected. SELECTIONS: Backing #1 Propelle to win with #5 in exotics.

Scone: Race 7 @ 4.05pm

INTO THE ABYSS (11) was a tragedy beaten in the JHB Carr Stakes last start, when caught locked away on the inside. Chance she faces a similar scenario again, but trusting Glyn to get her into clear air. Best form leaves her well placed and with even luck she should prove hard to beat. MOSS TRIP (6) failed to fire when well in the market (10-1) in the Coolmore Classic, but her effort prior was very good and she did win the Guineas here last year. Like her fresh (56 days) and she looms as a major threat. SWEET SCANDAL (8) stuck on well last start and should be much better suited back on top of the ground. More than capable on best form and has to be respected. SELECTIONS: Sticking with #11 Into The Abyss.

The sole filly in the race and backing up from last Saturday's Oaks, Qafila was too good and had this well under control at the 300m and won easily, her third career win - all at stakes level. She went to the front from the jump and led with a circuit to run, dropped into second at the 1800m and third at the 1600m. At the 800m she moved up along the rail and at the 600m ranged alongside the leader then took over before straightening. Away by a length and a half at the 300m, she never looked in danger and was clear by three and a half lengths at the line. Savvy Oak was fifth from the 1000m, third and ready to challenge turning in and second at the top of the straight but he couldn't match the filly for a distant second. Mr Quickie finished well from the back of the field for third, while Chapada had every chance and battled away for fourth.
