Today’s Horse Racing Tips - 20th July 2019

3 minute read

Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays for major Australian TAB meetings on July 20.

Meetings across Australia are today held at Randwick, Flemington, Eagle Farm, Morphettville Parks and Belmont.

RANDWICK: RACE 7 @ 3:15PM

Notation and Reflectivity expected to be prominent. LJUNGBERG (8) claimed a deserved win at this course over 1300m last start after kicking off his prep in two white hot form events. Should be at his peak fourth run from a spell. NOTATION (5) is charging through her grades this prep, now unbeaten from three runs this campaign. Takes on the boys here however should at least be at her peak fourth run from a spell. SWEET DEAL (4) has commenced her prep with two solid performances. Third up record good. SMARTEDGE (2) claimed a confidence boosting win at Eagle Farm last start. SELECTIONS: Can't go past Ljungberg.

FLEMINGTON: RACE 3 @ 1:35PM

Our bet of the day comes up in the fourth race on the card, a staying contest where LORD BELVEDERE (3) interests us coming down from Sydney where he closed strongly over 1800m last time. He gets up to this trip quickly, and his set up might no be ideal, but his effort last time was against much better horses than what he tackles on Saturday and his form in the UK says that he stays the trip well. The talent gap between milers and 2500m horses is vast, particularly in Australia and particularly in the off season. That leaves Lord Belvedere's last start effort looking very strong indeed and the gap is big enough to offset our concerns about the set up. We are happy to bet. THE STATESMAN (6) can be ready now. Terrific return over the mile and while he raced a touch flat last time it was a good race to bring him to his top. Think this will prove his trip and he finds a race lacking obvious improvers. SASKO (2) will press forward and is coming off a win and a second in Adelaide. This is tougher but he should stack up all the same. MAZAZ (4) has a little hope off his Winter Cup effort. Did enough up to two miles last time. INVERLOCH (7) was a touch plain last time but has shown glimpses, as has HIGH BRIDGE (1) who like Mazaz did enough over two miles last time. SELECTIONS: Lord Belvedere straight out.

EAGLE FARM: RACE 3 @ 12:53PM

High Wind and Our Mantra can kick up from low draws. NO MONEY NO HONEY (7) ran on for fifth in the Grafton Cup last start and will find this an easier assignment. Had been racing consistently in Victoria and NSW before that. Has the ratings to win. OUR MANTRA (2) made in two wins in a row when scoring here last month. Runner up at Doomben since. His consistency should be respected. SAVVY ROCK (10) chased Our Mantra home two back and meets him 1.5kg better. In the mix. OCEAN ADDICT (8) is progressive and will be at peak fitness. POLLINATOR (11) has been racing well and could ad some value to exotics. SELECTIONS: No Money No Honey to win down in grade.

MORPHETTVILLE @ 4:26PM (AEST)

Only looks an even speed over the staying trip. MORE THAN EVER (5) looks to be peaking up now. He was good two weeks ago but should be running the longer journey very easily. He drops in weight and will do no work either. SUPER SWOOP (2) can't stop winning. He showed the 2400m was no issue running down the leader. Runs well again. DISCO REBEL (7) has made long runs her last couple to win. Bred to want this distance. FLOW METER (3) comes off running in tough staying races in Melbourne. Tough old horse. GOOD IDEA (4) bred to be anything but not delivered as of yet. SELECTIONS: Fancy #5 More Than Ever a lot.

BELMONT: RACE 5 @ 5:15PM (AEST)

Uncle Lino and Dealing will look to lead, Spiritual Warrior probably has to go forward from a wide gate and Media Baron could too. Celtic Court and I'm A Love Man handy. ZARATITE (13) is a real up and comer who won nicely at Pinjarra last time looking strong. Pike goes on and drawn the inside. Plenty to like. MEDIA BARON (2) is a consistent type who finds it hard to win them but can't be left out of the chances after three straight placings. SUGAR CAIN is chasing a hat-trick and will be around the mark again with a light weight. CELTIC COURT (7) and UNCLE LINO (10) are among the each-way chances. SELECTIONS: Zaratite to win.
