Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays at Australian TAB meetings for July 28.
Tamworth: Race 7 @ 3.59pm
Scatter Blast and Apache Lad from wide gates will work across in search of the lead. POULTON LE SANDS (7) has impressed in two runs since returning from a spell and looks ideally placed this afternoon. Came from worse than midfield on the bend and made up many lengths to grab 3rd over 1300m at Scone last start. Won his maiden over the mile when third up last prep so there is a nice sense of timing about today's assignment. DELETE (3) stepped up to 1600m for the first time this prep and chased hard but found one better at Scone last time out. Down significantly in grade today but has to shoulder 60.5kgs with the claim. Form at this track and trip reads very well so hard to rule out. The lightly-raced HERCULES MO (9) was looking for more ground when unplaced over 1300m at Taree recently. Big chance as he progresses to this distance for the first time. FALSTER (6) has been racing well without threatening - one for the exotics. SELECTION: #7 Poulton Le Sands looks very hard to toss.

Sunshine Coast: Race 1 @ 12.50pm
A leisurely tempo likely with Junction probably leading the way. KINGS FULL (1) was returning from a seven-week let-up when a gallant 2nd at Doomben last start over the mile. Made a sustained run from before the corner on that occasion then struck the lead at the 100m only to be bloused late. Strips fitter today and the small field will suit his racing pattern. JUNCTION (4) raced handy and battled on gamely when runner-up under a big weight over 1300m at Toowoomba last start. Looking for this trip now and with a soft lead under just 55kgs will be hard to run down. LI'L RODGE (2) continued his run of excellent form when he got home narrowly over 1788m at Dalby recently. Hard to stop again. One of this trio should win, with CANONGATE (5) going in for first four punters. SELECTION: #1 Kings Full looks perfectly placed to score.
Devonport: Race 6 @ 2.20pm
Enzian is the one to cross quickly. HARRIMAN (1) was not beaten far a fortnight back. He can sit in a similar position this time and probably be helped by the longer race so a slower speed. THE SWORD (5) goes for the hatrick and no reason he can't do it. His best runs do come at Devonport. Bred to be anything so needs to show it more. ENZIAN (2) backs up off a win into a similar race. Looks the one to run down. JUPITER'S MOON (10) is one to place with a decent run in transit. BORN MAGIC (7) was good first up. SELECTION: Only three hopes 1, 2, 5 so box them in exotics.
Sapphire Coast: Race 4 @ 3.00pm
Whispered Prayer should roll to the lead. HIGH POTENTIAL (5) can go on with the job. Stuck her nose out where it counted at Nowra latest, delivering as favourite. Hardened fit. Rolls forward again and should be mighty hard to toss. Many of these have no recent wins/battling for form. Excluding GYPSY MISS (1). She was one of the in-form mares in the state a month ago, winning five straight. Tested at Canterbury two back and couldn't match it with the big boys. Corowa simply wasn't her track last start. Not dropping off her yet. She can win. PINCH PASSION (2) was placed here three back. Two runs since in better grade have only been plain. Expect better things. BURDEN OF PROOF (4) needs to tick the mile box. Good form backs her up but the distance is a query. TYRES ARE CRUCIAL (6) can also win. SELECTION: #5 High Potential to go on.
Alice Springs: Race 4 @ 3.30pm (AEST)
Cyclonite can lead from Shining Mane and Nordic Eclipse. CYCLONITE (2) is ex NSW and followed the win for the new yard as favourite with a placing effort in much stronger than this. This suits better and a bounce is on the cards. BRAZILLIANT (1) resumes and brings good form from stronger grade. Expect him to be forward and go well. URBAN BOURBON (4) won the 70 in better grade resuming and then was plain after. He can go better back to the shorter sprint. SHINING MANE (3) will be around the mark. SELECTION: #2 Cyclonite would have these easily covered at best and can keep improving.
Kalgoorlie: Race 7 @ 6.40pm (AEST)
Scooter's Machine can cross the field and lead from Moonlight's Reward and Alluring. REGAL COUNSEL (1) improved on solid Belmont form with the win here as favourite. That rates very well for this and he can repeat with Pike riding off a handy gate. ALLURING (2) led winning the Maiden easily at Belmont and then led and placed beaten 2.5L here in the Regal Counsel race. He can stick on better today. MOONLIGHT'S REWARD (5) resumes off a big Maiden win when he was odds on. He has more to find but can come back further improved. LITTLE FLIRT (7) draws low and may be best of the rest. SELECTION: Keen on #1 Regal Counsel.
