Progressive colt The Holy One advanced from winning an Echuca maiden (1400m) on July 25 to take out this Group 2 in good style, which took his record to three wins from five starts. He drove through from his inside barrier (1) to lead and then set a moderate tempo before lifting the pace from the 600m. He held a good break on turning for home and then lasted to win well. The well-supported Vegas Knight was near the rear early on before improving (wide) from the 1000m. He was caught deep from that point and did really well in fighting on for second after a wide trip. Conqueror settled in fifth place, was in held up between runners nearing the home turn, eased into clear running on straightening and then ran on well for third. Legionnaire was smartly away, settled outside the leader and eventual winner but was under pressure at the home turn before holding on to take fourth.
