Classy filly Loving Gaby, twice runner-up at Group 1 level as a two-year-old before spelling, scored a very good first-up win here. She settled just beyond mid-field and caught deep before making a strong move (wide out) approaching the home turn. She dashed to the front on passing the 100m and then fought back to win well in an impressive effort. The favourite Exhilarates settled back in seventh place on the rails from her inside barrier (1) and was held up behind runners approaching the home turn. She eased into clear running on straightening, challenged at the 50m and fought very well for second. Villami began well from her difficult barrier (11) but was caught three wide, outside the leading pair. She moved up well on straightening, hit the front at the 100m and then held on very well for third after a taxing trip. Don'ttelltheboss settled well back in the 14-horse field, got a split halfway down the straight and then ran on really well for fourth in a promising effort, advancing in class here.
