Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays at TAB meetings for September 30.
Geelong: Race 3 @ 1.30pm
Teebird from a wide gate will press for early honours. MUIRON (8) has placed at both runs this prep at the NSW provincials, most recently a closing 2nd over 1000m at Kembla where he clocked the best 600m-200m of the race. Suited back up in trip and will probably find this a shade easier. CRUZADOS (9) is a debutante by Sidestep from a Zabeel mare. Went well in a recent Cranbourne trial. Drawn to advantage so looks to get every chance. TEEBIRD (3) has not raced since finishing a close 2nd as even-money favourite on debut over 1200m on the Ballarat synthetic on 30 May. Clearly has ability and if he overcomes the wide gate can play a major role. TAVINO (2) is a four-year-old on debut by Tavistock, from a Zabeel mare with three winners from as many foals. Will be better over more ground but could sprint well while fresh. SELECTION: #8 Muiron brings the right formlines - looks too good for these

Leeton: Race 2 @ 1.55pm
A ton of early speed here headed by Feisty Flame and Milamoo. MILAMOO (8) made it four minor placings from six starts, and 2/2 this prep, when she led and just failed to hold on over 1000m at Gundagai last start. Gets out to this trip for the first time and will be cherry-ripe third up. Ready to win. TORRECIUDA (10) is poised to run a big race on debut. By Hussonet from a Rock Of Gibraltar mare. Won a recent Corowa trial by 2 lengths. Drawn to get all the favours. LISHADES (6) has not raced since finishing a length away in 2nd over 1200m at Wagga on 3 May. Will be better for the run but her best figures suggest she can play some role while fresh. BLESS YOU TOBY (12) hasn't been beaten far in two runs this prep - likely improver. SELECTION: The form of #8 Milamoo stands out - back her to win with some confidence.
Tamworth: Race 5 @ 4.05pm
Malzoom from a wide gate will spear over to find the lead. STAR RAIDER (4) got back to last on the corner then flashed home to be beaten less than a length over 1000m at Muswellbrook last start. Has only raced twice so there is a stack of room for improvement and the extra furlong is certainly a plus. PHILADORA (3) settled worse then midfield but really extended late to get up for 2nd over 1100m at Dubbo last time out. Record at this distance is top-shelf. Ready to peak today after four runs back. MALZOOM (2) generally needs a run or two to hit form but he is very speedy and could give some cheek. COZHECANCAN (1) is a big watch off a 38-day break for the new stable. SELECTION: The promising #4 Star Raider to win.
Northam: Race 4 @ 5.04pm (AEST)
Ziera from a wide gate should cross and lead. BERET (4) made it three minor placings from as many career starts when she chimed in late to be beaten under a length over this distance at Belmont last time. Well backed at her last couple so plenty is expected of this filly. Ideally placed today to break the ice. LEICA JAGUAR (1) led and looked a chance early in the straight but was swamped late and missed a place over this course and distance last start. Has only raced three times so is open to further improvement. MOOD GODDESS (5) didn't get a lot of galloping room when a close 3rd first up over 1300m at Belmont. Backmarker who needs luck but could be the one flashing home. ZIERA (6) ran a better race when ridden forward last start - in the mix. SELECTION: This looks perfect for #4 Beret.
