In an upset result, Colada had his opponents under pressure from the 600m and was too speedy in the straight, adding win two (maiden stakes) at start nine. He was third away then second, took over at the 1200m and was clear by more than a length at the 1000m. Travelling comfortably around the big bend he increased the lead past the 600m. Into the straight he shot clear by three lengths and at the 300m went further in front to have them in real trouble. Certainly he was shortening stride near the line but was never in any danger, still two lengths to the good. Brandenburg was second last at the 800m, still second last at the 400m and finished strongly without any chance of catching the winner. Favourite Bottega was last turning in and although finishing well left it way too late, lunging into third near the post. Rock Amore was third at the 400m, a clear second soon after but was caught late to hold fourth.
