In an exciting finish, the Godolphin-raced filly Flit scored a last stride win, her first at Group 1 level in six starts. She began well and travelled nicely in fifth place on the rails, tracking a reasonable tempo. She got along the rails as the pace increased at the home turn, took a split approaching the 100m and then finished best to score by a very narrow margin. Missile Mantra raced in last place in the ten-horse field, improved between runners at the home turn, switched deep on straightening and then finished strongly for a late-closing second in a very good performance. Southbank went to the front and was able to dictate a steady mid-race tempo. She then fought gamely for a closeup third in a bold effort at her fifth race starts. The winner's stablemate Lyre was smartly away and raced behind the leader. She moved up to challenge on turning for home and then fought on for fourth after appearing to have had every chance. Acting was a handy fourth before moving up at the home turn. She then held on nicely for fifth with Emeralds holding on well for sixth.
