Quality filly Loving Gaby staged a dashing display in taking out this Group 1 event. Having her third run back, she showed surprisingly good early pace from her good barrier (2) and after almost leading in the early stages, she settled in third place on the rails. Craig Williams eased her across heels on turning for home, she then grabbed the lead on passing the 100m before going on to score in good style. The West Australian-trained Vital Silver settled in second last place in the 11-horse field, improved with a wide move nearing the home turn, challenged at the 100m and then fought well for a very good second. Anaheed raced outside the leader (Faatinah), got to the front on straightening and then held on well for third. Rock Magic raced in ninth place, between runners, eased into clear running on turning for home and then ran on well for (1.9 lengths) fourth, just missing third in a photo. Bostonian was handily place, between runners, got a split at the home turn and then battled on quite well for (2.3 lengths) fifth. The favourite Bivouac began well but could not muster early speed from his inside barrier (1) and settled in seventh place on the rails. He looked for clear running from the 600m but failed to obtain an opening and went to the post an untested (2.4 lengths) sixth.
