This recognised high quality three-year-contest lived up to its reputation here and Exceedance proved a worthy Group 1 winner. He settled back in ninth place before Dwayne Dunn switched him closer to the flat side, tracking behind his main rivals (Bivouac and Libertini). He went through on the inner at the 300m, challenged at the 200m and finished well to score a very good win. Bivouac began well and settled outside the leader (Sartorial Splendor). He briefly looked the winner when he took the lead at 200m and he then fought for second, beaten a long neck. Libertini settled in fourth place, not far off the leaders. She went to third at the 200m and then battled gamely behind the two star colts for a very good third. Li'l Kontra raced in seventh place and she then ran on well for (4.7 lengths) fourth with Brooklyn Hustle (4.8 lengths) fifth after making ground from 8th at the 800m.
