I'm Incredible To Extend Winning Streak In Singapore Gold Cup

3 minute read

Singapore's new star I'm Incredible can add another win to his sequence when he lines up in the Group 1 Singapore Gold Cup (2000m) at Kranji on Sunday.

The Shane Baertschiger-trained five-year-old proved he was up to this class when fighting doggedly to win the Queen Elizabeth II Cup (1800m) here last start.

That was his fifth win in a row - four of them coming this campaign - and his third successive Group win .

I'm Incredible returns to 2000m after winning the El Dorado Classic at his only attempt at the journey two back and jockey Vlad Duric sticks with him after guiding him to his QE II success.

He draws a double-digit barrier again but came from wider in the QEII and carries 3.5kg less than he did on that occasion.

He is full of fight and ratings suggest he is a big chance to make it six on end.

Mr Clint finished down the track in the QE II but he pulled up lame so that can be forgiven.

He was well fancied there after catching the eye for a nose second when resuming in the Group 1 Raffles Cup (1600m) two back.

He had finished last campaign with a close second in the Singapore Derby so has his hoof on the till for another Group 1 win and was placed at his only previous attempt at this journey so is worth another chance.

The consistent King Louis would be a worthy winner after top-four finishes in his past four outings at Group 1 and Group 3 level.

Third in the Singapore Derby in July, he missed narrowly in his bid to end I'm Incredible's winning run when charging home to miss by a nose in the QE II last start.

That run suggested he is looking for 2000m having won at the trip before and Australian jockey William Pike can secure a good run in transit from gate three.

Last season's beaten Singapore Derby favourite Sacred Croix could be ready to show his best third up.

He fought on okay last start after finishing hard when resuming two back.

Those runs should have brought him to his peak and he looks a horse searching for a longer trip now.

Makanani.

Makanani cannot be left out following good form this campaign.

He was only 2.5 lengths away in the QE II but had charged home to get his Group 1 in the Raffles Cup two back.

He meets I'm Incredible worse at the weights through their last clash and 2000m remains a  query having missed at both attempts at the trip but his form at the highest level should not be ignored.

Happy punting.
