Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays at Australian TAB meetings for August 3.
Darwin: Race 12 @ 5.30pm (AEST)
Good early speed in the Cup with Savatoxl and Turnberry leading the way. IHTSAHYMN (1) gave Savatoxl a big start and closed the gap to 1.5 lengths when resuming over the mile last time out. Group One winner at his prime but finds his right level in NT these days. Defending his title and is the one to beat with added fitness. Local hero SAVATOXL (2) added to his outstanding record with a dominant win over 1600m here last start. Has won four from five this prep and if the Cup was run over a mile he'd be a good thing. Placed 2/2 at today's distance so not a risk at the trip but it is probably stretching his comfort to the limit. Still a major threat. LIVE AND FREE (3) had his first run for Gary Clarke over 1600m here recently and was pretty disappointing. Multiple Stakes-placed gelding who is suited getting out to this trip. Look for a much better performance today. The consistent PAGHMAN (9) was beaten 3.1 lengths by Savatoxl last start. Worth an each-way ticket. BUDGET KING (10) scored a massive win in the NT Derby last start and must be respected. SELECTION: #1 Ihtsahymn to make it back-to-back Darwin Cups.

Forbes: Race 5 @ 2:25pm
Smart Ain't He is fast and can cross over and lead from the wide gate. SPILIA (4) was a big Maiden winner at Dubbo as the market expected and then came hard again missing a lip this grade at Warren heavily-bet. Greg Ryan takes over today and will be looking to give him a soft run from the rail. Back 200m but hard to go past. PREVISO (5) resumed in good order placing at Albury and then came hard winning the Dubbo Maiden. He will push forward and won't have to improve much to challenge. HARLEY FAT BOY (1) has to manage the wide gate impressed just beaten 17 days ago at this level from the back and that gives him a chance. ARRIVEDERCI (3) came with the above in that race beaten 1.5L and is also a player with Cahill an able replacement for Ryan. SELECTION: #4 Spilia ticks most boxes.
Warwick: Race 4 @ 2:57pm
Plenty capable of leading over the short sprint and they will fly along. DANINA (6) led and blitzed the Maidens at Dalby and then led again missing a whisker this trip at Gatton. She keeps improving and will go close. HIDDEN EYES (3) has the pace to manage the sticky gate and improved again winning the Ipswich Maiden. The claim is handy and he can make the finish with the extra fitness and the gear tweaks. NAMO KEKENI (10) improved in good order for the new yard and has more to offer. The 4kg claim brings her into it at a price. ACCEPTILE (2) hasn't won for an age but the recent form is good and he's a chance in a touch easier. SELECTION: The race sets up well for #6 Danina.
Wodonga: Race 9 @ 4:30pm
Highclass Harry can roll over and make the pace. HIGHCLASS HARRY (1) improved again second-up missing a lip and then was on-pace as well winning comfortably here this trip and level. The claim is handy and he has the speed to clear the wide gate. He can go on with it. DUTCHESSE MOSHE (4) will be better third-up and is back to the grass. She's in good hands and has more up the sleeve. BELL SERENADE (15) led and was much too good at Wagga and then had no luck at all here after. He will need some luck from the gate but the 3kg claim gives him an each way hope. BROTHER PAUL (3) disappointed the latest but the two before stack up and he's well in the mix. SELECTION: #1 Highclass Harry can win again with an ounce of luck.
