Bathurst: Race 7 @ 4:30pm
Solid tempo where Highly Desired and The Scotsman are expected to stride to the early lead. HIGHLY DESIRED (2) ticks all the right boxes, he just needs another win. Placed in the Forbes Cup and more recently the Dubbo Cup this time in. That's the right form for this. He'll cut all the corners from the inside alley and the rise to 1800m will give him his opportunity. BOOMTOWN RAT (1) basically crossed the line with Highly Desired last start. He's got queries beyond the mile but this is a drop in grade and form is clearly easy to tie in. PECUNIARY INTEREST (4) has a tidy record for Nick Olive. Won well at Canberra three weeks ago. Stiffest assignment to date but is lightly-weighted and will get the perfect run. CONCESSIONS (3) and TOULON BROOK (5) for the exotics. SELECTION: #2 Highly Desired in the Cup.

Naracoorte: Race 4 @ 2.25pm
Genuine tempo with the speedy Military Law leading the way. MILITARY LAW (5) had support and missed 1L from the speed at Oakbank on debut and will be better for that. Has to manage the longer sprint today but is in good hands and can control the tempo from the low gate. LADY ADELE (8) will be better for the two runs back and has more to offer. Gets the winkers first time and a senior hoop takes over. BONIFACE (1) comes to peak with a 2kg claim and won't be far away pushing forward. KNEE SLAPPER (3) placed distantly at 100-1 resuming at the provincials and can't be totally ruled on the quick return. SELECTION: #5 Military Law can win and go on.

Sunshine Coast: Race 7 @ 4.40pm
Expecting Federal Agent to bounce to the lead from a low draw. PERFECT QUALITY (1) gave weight and fitness to Better Than Groovy here first-up and whilst he was no match, he should take significant improvement from that. Groovy has since confirmed the form running well in a much harder race. Blinkers go on and back to CL1 level he rates an excellent winning chance. SISTA ELENORE (11) gripped on to score at the very skinny quote here last start. Would've needed a lie down if you took the shorts but thankfully they don't pay on margins. Lovely style of horse by Real Impact who has all the scope in the world. Big hope. PURRFECT DEAL (6) carried a lightweight to win here on debut over a year ago. Clearly had some sort of issue but it's good to see her back. Bred to stay but does have early quickness. Handful of trials to ready her up for this. Keep safe. ST JUST (12) and BONAPARTE (2) both in the mix. SELECTION: #1 Perfect Quality to end proceedings.

Mornington: Race 8 @ 5:20pm
Expect a solid tempo with Rolling Moss the likely leader with some pressure. SHOTMAKER (11) brings impressive form at 70 level and as a well-bet favourite winning the latest despite being caught deep. Goes wet and dry and Zahra is reunited. The Price-Kent-trained gelding can go right on with it. PINYIN (13) just missed this level at Flemington and then got up as expected back to the 70. She gets a sticky gate but she's up to this and Oliver replaces the apprentice. MARITANA (7) wasn't beaten far in the Group 3 first-up and then was an easy winner as favourite in the 70. He's won 4/8 and keeps getting better. Needs a good ride from the 3kg claimer but is a serious player. ROLLING MOSS (9) also gets a handy 3kg claim and will be in it a long way running along. SELECTION: #11 Shotmaker ticks most boxes and can repeat for a form yard.

Northam: Race 8 @ 7:25pm
Looks a solid tempo with Me 'N' Taz striding to the front. KELLY'S GEM (3) hasn't won for a while but had trialled well and just missed resuming here this grade. It was a really good effort after the slow start. Has to come back 100m but gets the low gate and no surprise if he wins today before stretching out over longer. GILLESPIE (1) peaks on a bit easier off nice efforts at Belmont. He's on the 8-day return and is well-up to winning this. AMASENUS (6) is also fourth and gets weight relief off the Belmont run. Is going well but get's back and the rail gate makes it tricky. ME 'N' TAZ (5) is fast and will be in it for a long way forgiving the latest. SELECTION: #3 Kelly's Gem can go one better for the form yard.
