Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays at Australian TAB meetings for January 10.
Nowra: Race 2 @ 2.20pm
AMUNGEE (4) looks ready to strike. She's had the three racetrack appearances and finished second in all of them. Gave plenty of cheek behind Sparky Girl last start at Newcastle. From the better draw she won't spend as much petrol early and that'll give her more in reserve to kick away from this lot. SHE'S SUPER (8) was good on debut at Muswellbrook. She's had some time to mature and the Super One progeny are airborne at the moment. Danger. MISS ANTICIPATION (3) is hard fit. Settled too far back at Gosford last start but she wasn't beaten far at the end. Had a few chances but dropping in class looks suitable. BAILIESTON (6) and CHLOEBELLA ROSE (1) best of the remainder. SELECTION: #4 Amungee straight out.

Port Lincoln: Race 5 @ 3.15pm (AEDT)
KINGSON (3) ticks plenty of boxes he scored in town at a price back in July and was a dominant winner coming off the speed two back beating Perfect Command before running 10th beaten 7.5 by Magnetic Edge in a $100k race in town. He's trialled well and gets into this nice with a claim. ARTFUL AMBITION (7) has been runner-up his past two since beating Daskulya here over this trip. FEARLESS AL (4) has been racing well and drops back in trip after fading late behind Paulo Price last time, this is an easier assignment. EXCELTARA (2) was good here behind Mysticano two starts back. TAJAVEDO (6) draws to be handy to the speed throughout and won well two back. SELECTION: Backing #3 Kingson each-way
Mornington: Race 6 @ 4.45pm
RECOMPENSA (4) was beaten a nose at Geelong getting close to his best and expect her to come back improved. She gets a soft run from the low gate and rates to win if presented on-song - as expected. CURIOUS HEART (1) has just been beaten the last two and gets the jockey switch to Callow. She will ride the speed and is a genuine winning chance. D'ORO RAIN (3) raced favourite first-up but looked in need of it. She won 2/4 second-up and will push forward. Quick improvement is on the cards. SOLITARY TRAMP (5) has won and placed the last two but has to manage the extra weight. SELECTION: Going with #4 Recompensa.
Warrnambool: Race 7 @ 4.55pm
HUMBLE PIE (5) can settle closer here from an inside draw after getting too far back last start from a horror gate. His recent form in town has been excellent including a win three starts ago and he can get back into the winners circle here. MOSCOW RED (6) caught the eye coming from well back last start and looks ready to show her best here fourth up with a nice weight drop. Consider. TOUGH VIC (1) has run up to his name this time in upgrading his form at each start before going down as favourite last start. Include. DUKE OF PLUMPTON (2) has shown his best first up and on rain affected going in the past but has to be respected here. NASHVILLE SOUND (7) excels first up and at this track. He appeals strongly on an each way basis. SELECTION: #5 Humble Pie has the form.
Albany: Race 4 @ 5.55pm (AEDT)
BIG BADA BOOM (2) just missed before recording the 3.3L Maiden win at the mile. He will be fitter and has the speed to take care of the sticky gate. He can go tight on with it with Pike replacing the apprentice. SOWAR (1) has placed the last four and there was only a lip in it first-up. The 3kg claim takes care of mist of the weight lift and the mile suits now. ART ADMIRER (3) was back to his best at Esperance missing a lip in better grade. Draws well and is a chance. FUEL THE FRIAR (4) can win this at best and will be better second-up and at this trip. Has to be kept well onside. SELECTION: #2 Big Bada Boom is promising.
